Testnet Handles & Dev Update
We have come a long way since the start of AZERO Domains at the beginning of September during the ETHWarsaw hackathon. In Warsaw, we had the pleasure of working closely with Antoni, Adam, and many other team members of Aleph Zero to start this journey. Already during the hackathon, we developed the idea to continue developing AZERO Domains regardless of the outcome of the competition. The morning after submitting the project, we decided not to wait but announce the project to the public and see the community's reaction.
And you guys exceeded all our expectations! Within the first 24 hours, we already reached 2,5k followers on Twitter and received valuable feedback on several channels. Until now, our initial testnet contract reached more than 101k claimed domains from almost 40k unique addresses. That’s a huge success and proves the excitement in the Aleph Zero community.
Treating of Testnet Handles
Over the last months, many of you have been asking about what will happen with the testnet handles you have claimed. Although we can’t offer you the same handles for free on the mainnet, we will recognize and reward your efforts in testing our first testnet implementation of AZERO Domains.
We have decided that every wallet that has successfully claimed a testnet domain will be whitelisted to buy one 5+ character domain before the official launch for everyone else. This upfront period will last for exactly one week and happens on a first come, first serve basis. After that, the platform will be open to the general public to claim free 5+ character domains.
Below, you will find a link to a text file in our GitHub repository that lists every wallet address eligible for this early-tester claiming phase. The snapshot for the early tester reward was taken on 2022–11–30 17:47:50.001000 +00:00 at block number 17022533. If your address is on the list, you will be eligible to find your favorite 5+ character domain one week before the official launch! 🥳

Status of Development
We are currently developing our mainnet smart contracts based on the latest ink! v4 beta release that will be integrated into the Aleph Zero testnet shortly. The launch of our first (closed) beta phase is planned for Q1 2023. Make sure to join our Discord Server not to miss any updates on the development.
Moreover, we have already started with the UI of the new dApp. Therefore, we are working in parallel on a rebranding to create a unique and more distinguishable brand identity.
